Optics in physics is the study of the generation, propagation, and interaction of light with matter. It includes branches such as geometric optics, physical optics, and quantum optics. Geometric optics studies the path of light propagation and imaging rules; physical optics studies the wave properties of light and the phenomena of light interacting with matter; quantum optics studies the particle properties of light and the quantum phenomena of light interacting with matter.
