Experimental components Plastic ball, glass ball, steel ball, running track, base Experimental process (1) First, select a glass ball to slide down from a height h1 and hit the plastic ball at the end of the track. Record the distance s1 that the plastic ball bounces out after being hit. Then pick up the plastic ball and put it back at the end of the track. Release the glass ball from height h2 to slide down and hit the plastic ball. Record the distance s2 that the plastic ball bounces out after being hit this time.  (2) Place the glass ball at a height h3 to slide down and hit the plastic ball at the end of the track. Record the distance s3 that the plastic ball bounces out after being hit. Then pick up the plastic ball and put it back at the end of the track. Place the steel ball at the same height h3 and let it slide down along the track to hit the plastic ball. Record the distance that the plastic ball bounces out after being hit. Experimental phenomena In step (1) of the experiment, it was found that the higher the height at which the ball starts to slide down, the greater its speed when it reaches the horizontal plane, and the farther it will hit the plastic ball. In step (2), it was found that when the sliding heights of two different balls are equal, their speeds on reaching a horizontal plane are equal, but a larger mass will cause a greater distance for hitting a plastic ball. Experimental conclusion From these experimental phenomena, we can see that an object’s kinetic energy is related to its mass and speed. For objects with equal mass, those with greater speed have greater kinetic energy. For objects with equal speed, those with greater mass have greater kinetic energy.
