Experimental components Foil electroscope, glass rod, silk cloth, towel, rubber rod Experimental process (1) Rub the glass rod with a silk cloth to generate a positive charge on the glass rod. Rub the rubber rod with a towel to generate a negative charge on the rubber rod. (2) Touch the top metal of the foil electroscope with one of the glass rods rubbed with a silk cloth. The metal foil of the electroscope opens at a certain angle, indicating that the electroscope is now carrying the same charge as the glass rod, that is, the foil has a positive charge. Then use another glass rod rubbed with a silk cloth to approach (but not touch) the top metal of the foil electroscope and observe the change in the angle at which the foil inside the electroscope opens. (3) Then bring a rubber rod rubbed with a towel close to (but not touching) the top metal of the electroscope and observe the change in the angle at which the foil inside the electroscope opens. Experimental phenomena In step (2), when the positively charged glass rod approaches but does not touch the top metal of the electroscope, it is found that the angle at which the foil inside the electroscope opens becomes larger. In step (3), when the negatively charged rubber rod approaches but does not touch the top metal of the electroscope, it is found that the angle at which the foil inside the electroscope opens becomes smaller. Experimental conclusion Through this experiment, it can be concluded that like charges repel each other and opposite charges attract each other.

Experimental process

(1) Rub the glass rod with a silk cloth to generate a positive charge on the glass rod. Rub the rubber rod with a towel to generate a negative charge on the rubber rod.
